Take charge of your battery’s health.

Get the right battery so you can always enjoy the power you need, every time you need it. This is especially important during extreme cold or hot weather or through lack of use, which can diminish longevity. We recommend having yours checked at least twice a year and replaced every three years.

Tips for extending
battery life

Limit Short Drives: Driving short distances can prevent your battery from fully recharging and increases the chance of battery drain

Turn Off All Lights: Make sure all inside and outside lights are off after engine shutdown

Visual Inspections: See if your battery terminals are corroded or need cleaning

Cool Parking Spots: Park in cooler, shaded areas and avoid leaving your vehicle in direct sunlight for long periods

Regular Service: Maintenance can detect issues before they become bigger problems

Winter battery care

Routine Checks: Hyundai-trained technicians use special equipment to determine how your battery may fare during colder weather, detect problems, and perform the required service and/or repairs.

Cleanings: Battery terminals should be cleaned periodically, especially at the start of winter. Any buildup over the summer can drain the battery, even when it isn’t running.

Replacements: If your battery is over three years old, have a Hyundai-trained technician inspect it and determine if a replacement is needed.

Warm Up Your Car: Cold weather can drain over 30% of your battery’s power. Park your car in a warm or sheltered area so the battery does not freeze and drain.

3 warning signs of an aging battery

  1. Longer Engine Start Times: Your engine should start immediately without any gap between push-start or key-turn.
  2. Dimming Headlights: If your headlights don’t seem as bright, it may be time for a battery replacement.
  3. Dashboard Lights Only: A dying battery may have only enough power to illuminate the dashboard and will not be able to start your engine.
